This day in American history is when the people who lived in America got tired of being a colony of England. They were tired of being ruled by a king and the parliament counsel that would raise taxes on the people and yet allow the Americans to have no say in the government.
This is from Wikipedia:
In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Many Americans remained loyal to the King of England and many wanted to be free of England. They wanted to keep their own tax money and guide their own lives. England at the time had many colonies and a large navy that ruled the seas. It took many years of war for England to tire of battle and the loss of many men and at tremendous cost to finally give in and give up on trying to keep America under English rule. In the war of 1812 England again tried to retake the USA and burned the capitol in Washington. They failed to retake the USA and we remain somewhat free to this day...
No one likes war. War is a horrific affair, bloody and expensive.Sending our men and women into battle to perhaps die or be maimed is an unconscionable thought.Yet some wars need to be waged, and someone needs to lead. The citizenry and Congress are often ambivalent or largely opposed to any given war. It's up to our leader to convince them. That's one of the reasons we call the leader "Commander in Chief."George W.'s war was no different.
There was lots of resistance to it.Many in Congress were vehemently against the idea. The Commander in Chief had to lobby for legislative approval.Along with supporters, George W. used the force of his convictions, the power of his title and every ounce of moral persuasion he could muster to rally support. He had to assure Congress and the public that the war was morally justified, winnable and affordable.Congress eventually came around and voted overwhelmingly to wage war.
George W. then lobbied foreign governments for support. But in the end, only one European nation helped us.The rest of the world sat on its hands and watched. After a few quick victories, things started to go bad. There were many dark days when all the news was discouraging.Casualties began to mount. It became obvious that our forces were too small.Congress began to drag its feet about funding the effort. Many who had voted to support the war just a few years earlier were beginning to speak against it and accuse the Commander in Chief of misleading them.
Many critics began to call him incompetent, an idiot and even a liar.Journalists joined the negative chorus with a vengeance. As the war entered its fourth year, the public began to grow weary of the conflict and the casualties.George W.'s popularity plummeted.Yet through it all, he stood firm, supporting the troops and endorsing the struggle.Without his unwavering support, the war would have surely ended, then and there, in overwhelming and total defeat.
At this darkest of times, he began to make some changes.
More troops were added and trained.
Some advisers were shuffled, and new generals installed.
Then, unexpectedly and gradually, things began to improve.
Now it was the enemy that appeared to be growing weary of the lengthy conflict and losing support.
Victories began to come, and hope returned.
Many critics in Congress and the press said the improvements were just George W.'s good luck.
The progress, they said, would be temporary. He knew, however, that in warfare good fortune counts. Then, in the unlikeliest of circumstances and perhaps the most historic example of military luck, the enemy blundered and was resoundingly defeated. After six long years of war, the Commander in Chief basked in a most hard-fought victory. So on that historic day, Oct. 19, 1781, in a place called Yorktown, a satisfied George Washington sat upon his beautiful white horse and accepted the surrender of Lord Cornwallis, effectively ending the Revolutionary War. ~~ Dr Bob Griffin, www.grif.net "Jesus knows me, this I love"
This is an article I wrote for a college business class. You may find it relevant for marriages as most marriages split up over money and this is a major cause of problems with money.
Hyperinflation
By Robert Walker
Business Math
Hyperinflation is inflation growing at a very high rate in a very short timeHyperinflation:In the field ofeconomics, the term hyperinflation is consideredinflation that is beyondcontrol. This condition is marked in which prices of goods and services increase rapidly as the currency or money loses value. Definitions vary by economists from a cumulative inflation rate over three years approaching 100%to "inflation exceeding 50% a month." hyperinflation is often reported for much shorter intervals, often per month. In extreme conditions inflation can be measured on a daily basis. The definition used by most economists is "an inflationary cycle without any tendency toward equilibrium." The cause of hyperinflation is the subject of a great deal of debate. When governments create a drastic increase in the supply of money for example by the overprinting of paper money with no backing by gold or silver and/or by a drastic debasement of coinage you will often see hyperinflation. Debasement of coins comes when you replace coins of precious metals, like gold and silver, with common base metals, like our dimes and quarters. This extreme economic condition is most often associated with wars or their aftermath, depressions, and political and/or social instability.
Root causes of hyperinflation:
The generally accepted main cause of hyperinflation is a extreme influx of valueless paper money or base coins, which is not supported by an increase in growth in the output of goods and/or services. The oversupply of paper money with no backing of intrinsic value, like goold or silver causes massive inflation with a complete loss of confidence in the money, like paper money which lacks intrinsic value. Intrinsic value is the value of the metal, typically a precious metal, in a coin. For example, if gold trades at a price of $886 per ounce then a coin minted from one troy ounce of fine gold would have an intrinsic value of $886. This value of gold was taken on May 31, 2008. In May of 1970 the price of gold was $35 a troy ounce. In May of 1980 the price of gold was $500 an ounce. In May of 1990 the price of gold was about $370 an ounce. If the governmental financial entity responsible for the printing of a currency allowsexcessive money printingandn there is no incremental increase in goods and / or services then hyperinflation usually occurs. Hyperinflation is virtually always associated with paper currency becoming worthless. A run on paper money will usually followed by a return to what is known as "hard money" or coins of precious metals or the general population would once again start to barter their goods and services.Hyperinflation ruins the purchasing power of consumers and business as well as investors. This has a tendacy to cause a run on the economy to favor extreme consumption with people hoarding real assets, such as foodstuff and precious metals like gold. Hyperinflation will drive investors out of the affected area causing an even further economic downturn. Post WWI Germany went through its worst inflation in 1923. This was partly due to the fact that the allies of WWI demanded that Germany pay war reparations that were over and above the entire net worth of the country. Germany responded to paying this debt by running theprinting presses of their currency 24/7 until the money was worthless. In 1922, the highest denomination was 50,000 Mark. By 1923, the highest denomination was 100,000,000,000,000 Mark. In December of 1923 the exchange rate from marks to US dollars was 4,000,000,000,000:1. During the worst times, one U.S. dollar was equal to 80 billion Mark. In contrast the great depression in the USA was not until 1929. This was the postwar ecopnomic situation that gave rise to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party and helped pave the way for WWII. "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -Thomas Jefferson"Hyperinflation." We gather here today to give thanks for the life of Carl who died on March 15, at the age of 83. It is in his memory that we gather and for his life that we are thankful.
PRAYER Eternal spirit, before whom generations rise and pass away, we find that even in the face of death, our words can be those of thanksgiving. We are thankful for one who shared his life with us...One for whom love and family were so important For the struggles of life, and for the triumph of character over trial, of courage over difficulty, of faith over sorrow, we give thanks. God grant us such strength in the memory of our loved one that we might be thankful for the gift of life that is given to each of us, and in our hearts, may the loss of Carl be balanced by thanksgiving for the life that he shared with us. Amen.
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->
There is much to be thankful for as we remember Carl and the way he shared his life with those around him. Each of us gives gifts of ourselves to those we share life with. These are gifts that can never be taken away. Though we are gone, these gifts endure.
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->Carl was born in Louisiana on New Year’s Day in 1926. He was raised in Miami with his six brothers and sisters. He had many adventures as he moved through life, from his childhood in Miami, his service in the Navy in WW2, and his varied occupations, which included flying a crop duster, working in all areas of construction, and working at the cape during the years of the US Space program. He loved to fish and especially loved to collect things, and to share the treasures he would find with others. He was a generous man. <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->Carl could always make you laugh with one of his corny jokes (How are you feeling today Carl? With my hands, like always!) He must have had a million of them! He loved his family and was loved in return by four sons and two daughters, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and his many friends. At the senior citizen apartments where he spent his last few years, he was affectionately referred to as “the mayor”. The residents and staff members there keenly feel his loss.<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->Carl was baptized an Episcopalian, and quietly and privately practiced his faith.<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->Carl was a unique and deeply loved individual, and will always be greatly missed, especially by his family.<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->
Let us pray.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, we commend to Almighty God our brother Carl; and we commit his body to the ground; * earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The Lord bless him and keep him, the Lord make his face to shine upon him and be gracious unto him, the Lord lift up his countenance upon him and give him peace. Amen. Before the sublime mystery of life and spirit, the mystery of infinite space and endless time, we stand in reverent awe.... This much we know: we are at least one phase of the immortality of life. The mighty stream of life flows on, and, in this mighty stream, we too flow on...not lost...but each eternally significant. For this I feel: The spirit never betrays the person who trusts him. Physical life may be defeated but life goes on; character survives, goodness lives and love is immortal." <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]-->
May peace be with you all, and may your memories soothe your sorrow.
Easter is early this year. Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Jewish people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.
Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) but that is extremely rare.
Here's the interesting information. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early. And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier!
Here are the facts:
1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now).
2) The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that).
3) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818.
So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year. Enjoy it, and remember the meaning of Easter has nothing to do with bunnies or eggs.

Mr. Hajji of London wanted to surprise his girlfriend and propose to her with a special ring. He plunked down about $12,000 for a ring and put it into helium filled balloon.
The figured he could pop the balloon with the ring in it as He popped the question. Then his ring did a disappearing trick as it vanished into thin air. As he was leaving the store the wind caught the ring-bearing balloon and it blew away into the wind. He tried to follow the balloon with his car and lost it and the ring.
He kind of guessed the girlfriend would be mad and well she was. She now demands another ring.
-------------------------------------
I remember a wedding I did in a public park and the 2 something year old ring bearer lost the diamond wedding ring on the grass. Only one guest saw the ring drop on the grass and recovered the ring as the bride was crying during the ceremony as the ring exchange was supposed to be going on. The guest returned the ring and saved the day.
(BISHOP you can just say a few words about marriage and love instead of the next 2 paragraphs, this is just an example of what I think might be appropriate and the flow of the ceremony)
BISHOP: ENGLISH
Juan Antonio and Mavel, in presenting yourselves here today to be joined in marriage, you perform an act of faith. This faith can grow and develop and last, but only if you both decide to make it so. A lasting and growing love is not guaranteed by any ritual.
If you would have the foundation of your marriage be the devotion you have for one another, not just at this moment, but for all the days to come, then treasure the hopes and dreams that you bring here today. Establish from this day forward that your love will never be blotted out by the common nor be obscured by the ordinary in life. Faults will surface where now you find comfort, and admiration can be shattered by the routine of daily life.
Dedication, love, and joy can grow only when you nourish them together. Stand fast in that hope and confidence, having faith in your shared destiny just as strongly as you have faith in yourselves and in one another today. Only with this spirit can you forge a union that will strengthen and endure all the days of your lives.
BISHOP SPANISH:
Así pues, ya que queréis contraer santo Matrimonio, unid vuestras manos, manifestad vuestro consentimiento ante Dios y todos los aquí presente (se dan la mano derecha. As you have chosen to join your lives in marriage befote God and those here present, please repeat after me: .
GROOM:
I, Juan Antonio, take you, Mavel, as my friend and love, beside me and apart from me, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, asking that you be no other than yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that life may find us.
BISHOP: PLEASE REPEAT AFTER ME:
BRIDE( in Spanish):
May God bless these rings you are about to exchange and may they serve as symbols of your love and devotion"
"Juan Antonio, place the ring on Mavel's finger and repeat after me:"
Bishop and Groom
"Mavel, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am and all that I have, I shall love and honor you, in the name of God."
"Mavel coloca el anillo en el dedo de Juan Antonio y repite después de mi:"
Bishop and Bride
"Juan Antonio, Te doy este anillo como símbolo de mi amor, y con todo lo que soy, y todo lo que tengo, te honrare y amare, en nombre de Dios."
BISHOP:
"May this day shine eternally in your lives. May it add brilliance to every achievement and cast a divine light over any misfortune. May you care for each other in all sadness. May you give cheer to each other. May you give vitality to each other in all undertakings. May all that is virtuous, beautiful and honest, remain with you always."
"{Bishop instead of the this next paragraph you can just say anything you might consider appropriate, poem, bible reading, etc.} In the years which shall bring Juan Antonio and Mavel into greater age and wisdom, we pray that their love shall be ever young; that they shall be able always to recover from moments of despair, the lithesome ways of buoyant youth. In this hope may they keep the vows made on this day, in freedom, teaching each other who they are, what they yet shall be, enabling them to know that in the fullness of being, they are more than themselves and more than each other; that they are all of us, and that together we share joyously the fruits of life."
BISHOP: "Invito a las madres de los novios que se acerquen para la lectura:"
Reading by Mother of the Groom: Colossians 3
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him
Unity Candle Ceremony
Bishop speaks: At this time we will have the lighting of the unity candle. Le pido a los padres de la novia y del novio que por favor se acerquen para que enciendan la vela.
Wait until candles are lit-
Bride and Groom please light your candle
As they light this candle, let it represent the unity of Mavel and Juan Antonio in a new life together from this moment on. As this one light cannot be divided, neither shall their marriage or lives be divided. May the radiance of this...
A woman from Italy got a divorce from her husband and it only took 10 years to get it.
This due to his smoking weed on their wedding night. She is a non-drug user and wants nothing to do with it. The husband promised the bride he did not do drugs.
It only took 10 years for an ecclesiatical tribunal to grant the divorce.
And you think our churches and government is slow...?

Giuseppe Rebaudi is going to marry his very long time girlfriend named Silvie Basain. They started seeing each other in 1952.
French-born Silvie said: "We just need to get a certificate from the French embassy that I have not been married before and am single."
She said her only worry was that they might be rushing things: "We have only been together for 50 years - that may be a bit quick but then again you are only young once."
The wedding ceremony will take place at their home in Bordighera, in Italy.
Florida church pastor tells married flock to have sex everyday
March 1, 2008
Pastor of Florida church tells his married congregation to flock to have sex - every day
A Florida church leader is telling his married church members to have sex every day for a month.
Bob's comment: It is really difficult to be mad at your spouse when your in bed having sex...
Paul Wirth who is the head pastor of the Relevant Church in Ybor City states the undertaking could help cut high divorce rates.
He said: "Couples across America are struggling in their relationships, both married and single people.
"For married people it seems like the sex is great up front but then for some reason life happens.
"But when you're single it's like you're always thinking about it and you're like, man I'd like to have it as much as possible.
"And sometimes that prevents them from having a great really healthy relationship later on when you do get married."
This is so very true...
The Relevant Church describes itself as "a casual, contemporary Christian church" and says its services are designed "specifically for urban professionals and young families".

This is a paper I did for my business adminstration class for the degree I am working on.
This is not so much about weddings, but about marriage and children.
Is it ethical to advertise to children
under the age of 13 years of age?
By: Robert H. Walker
February 22, 2008
In this paper I shall attempt to show why I feel that it is unethical to advertise to children of a young and tender age. Children are emotionally and intellectually immature and cannot make rational decisions concerning choices. They lack the financial capability of making the purchase due to a complete and total lack of income. Children cannot make intelligent decisions involving their health and welfare concerning products that are peddled to their level of understanding. Below are some examples and why they are detrimental to the young.
McDonalds restaurants come to mind as one of the promoters of children's marketing. Happy meals with the toy prize for the kids are a perfect example of this form of advertising and promotion. Children are bombarded with this on television ads during cartoons and youth oriented programming. Ronald the clown is geared towards kids, as adults would not be interested in a clown as a marketing tool. Children and many parents are unaware that their food products are full of fat and salt and is generally a poor choice of little nutritional value. These marketers know that if they can hook the kids early enough that they can have lifelong customers. Even the Bible states in Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
If you are unlucky enough to have a hungry child kicking and screaming in the back seat of the car as you drive by the golden aches, you will no doubt understand the power of marketing to children.
Kellogg's breakfast cereals are a perfect example of products advertised to children. Frosted (with sugar) flakes of corn and fruit loops are heavily advertised on Saturday morning cartoons and at other times with youth oriented programming and media. Fruit loops main ingredient is sugar and corn is listed as the second most prevalent ingredient. Artificial colors are also added and are very controversial among those that value their health. Sugar is linked, in some studies, with A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. among children and with adult onset diabetes. You can also find university medical studies to refute this that are funded by the packaged food industry. Tony the tiger will tell you that Frosted flakes are Great. While you push your cart down the aisle at the grocery store, you may hear the screams of a small child demanding a breakfast cereal from an exasperated mother.
Mattel sells many varied toys and some of the toys are the subjects of cartoons like the masters of the universe series. Barbie is a best selling item among girls for many years and the ads for it can be seen on TV and in print. In addition to tie in advertising campaigns there are the deals with the big toy companies like Toys r us and McDonalds sponsorship on their happy meal packaging. Movie theaters are in on the promotion with movie themes as well as ads before the film.
Disney has so many brands in the fire it is difficult to know where to start. In addition to the visual media, Disney has themed parks geared for children and a whole selection of toys. Disney has used modern technology to its advantage. Disney has a radio station in West Palm Beach and it helps promote their music and upcoming artists like Hannah Montana on Television and on the stage live and in movies. Children were begging parents to purchase tickets to the sold out events of Hannah and I heard that tickets were being scalped and sold for thousands for this event. Mickey Mouse has been a household term for over fifty years. When a new Disney movie comes out, it is heavily promoted via channels that children will frequent. Teen magazines like teen vogue, Cosmo girl Internet chat rooms and social sites promote Disney products as well as it are on billboards. Children are bombarded with visual stimuli of the many offerings of Disney in toys, clothing wear apparel and various accessories.
Phillip Morris Tobacco is a well-known international firm selling cigarettes and many forms of tobacco products. They used to be able to market to any age group with impunity in the USA until a law was passed that was supposed to prohibit advertising to children's markets. In my youth, I remember youth oriented movies where virtually all the roles smoked and drank in a positive light. I recall attending high school and seeing a huge billboard from the school grounds with tobacco ads featuring the "Marlboro man" smoking. Tobacco ads adorned the pages of many teen and adult magazines like Rolling Stone, Look and Life as well as local and national newspapers and television commercials. Popular teen radio shows and stations featured spots for the promotion of cigarettes. It is a proved fact that the brains of young adults do not develop until their twenties. Advertising such as this was insidious and promoted an unhealthy and dangerous addition to members of society that were not even allowed to purchase the product legally.
Seagram's liquors was the largest liquor distillery in the world at the time I was in high school. They advertised heavily with billboards around my high school and on the youth oriented radio stations. Rolling stones magazine had ads for their products like gin and scotch. Movies that appealed to the youth market showed liquor in a prominent and positive manner. Drunkenness was often portrayed in a light and humorous manner in the theatre and on television. Beer and youth oriented wine products such as sangria were heavily promoted during televised programming among shows that were popular among the youthful teens and preteens that I remember.
Summary: I truly have seen and felt the advertising blitz among the youth for products of dubious and harmful value in my teenaged years. I understand that a law was passed that was supposed to curb such practices.
Conclusion: I feel that advertising among preteens should not be allowed as they are not even allowed to legally work and have no income. Food with empty nutrition is not good for children and kids need to avoid them. They also should be kept far away from harmful products like liquor and cigarettes.
I remember I did a wedding on valentine's day a few years ago.
The groom was somewhat forgetful, per the bride and she had hoped that he would have no problem remembering his anniversary.
I sure hope so...
This is the first time I have not had a wedding on this date in years - I guess I will have to enjoy the day off and try to remember a gift for someone special on Valentine's day.
Man hands his wife over to a bill collector to satisfy a debt
A man from Romania gave his wife to a creditor to satisfy his payment for a bill he owed.
Emil Iancu is the name of the husband and he is from tIghisu Nou, gave his wife named Daniela to a bill collector that came to his house to demand payment on a $2,000+ bill.
Iancu the husband is quoted as saying: "I had no money to pay the debt and when I told Lostrie he said he would take my wife instead."
"I was scared of what he would do and so I signed a document saying Daniela would live with him."
But Daniela says the deal has proved better for her as she is quoted as saying: "Before I had to clean the house and look after our three children on my own, while Emil did nothing, but now I'm treated like a guest and hardly have to raise a finger," OK what is the catch?
I am not even going to comment on this one....imagine a husband that would give away his wife for payment
Seems all of these strange stories come from Croatia and Romania...
Woman hits husband with a potato and knocks him out cold
Police were called out to a house in Nicholson, Ga when a wife knocked out her husband with a potato after hitting him square in the snout.
She picked up the spud and nailed him after he called her a rude name.
The couple got into a fight while she was cooking in the kitchen in the wee hours of Thanksgiving in the early morning after they had both been drinking.
The 43 year old wife is quoted as saying: "she didn't mean to hit her husband and called police as soon as he fell unconscious".
The husband decided not to press charge against his wife...
Moral of this story: If the wife is cooking dinner for you - you would be really dense to call her names...
I often wonder what goes through people's minds...
I know that when I was in college I could have used a job like this...
A girl from China is planning to start up her very own company that is going to feature and hire professional bridesmaids for weddings. I like the spirit of this girl...
Xu Lisha, who is a student at the Tianjin Institute of Professional Technology in China, is busy recruiting professional bridesmaida from among the staff from colleges and universities in the local area.
In an online website internet ad, she says she's looking for: "University students are a must. Slim, generous looking, who deal with wedding incidents with wisdom and quick reactions."
Xu told the Daily News: "I feel students are more pure and have good courtesies. More importantly, they need the money."
She has hired herself out 3 times as a bridesmaid already. I like this as an idea
Xu says that she was able to came up with the idea after seeing that there is good market demand for professional bridesmaids at weddings. Maybe this is a trend that will catch on in the USA. Can groomsmen rentals at wedding ceremonies be next? Maybe even rent a bride or groom for when someone backs out of the wedding...?
"As positions like wedding host, photographers and make-up artists have been professionalised, the same goes for bridesmaids. Future couples would love to hire professional bridesmaids. This is going to be the trend."
I wonder if this trend will go anywhere...
I wonder if someone will want to rent a groomsman - complete with penguin suit...????
